How to Care for Your Brooms, Witch Bells, Wreaths, & More

You have a beautiful new piece of magic, and you want to keep it pristine. Let’s talk about how to care for your items!

Item Care Information

Sweepers are meant to be swept with, don’t hesitate to do so! All brooms come with a hanger — this is because if the broom is stored with the bristle on the ground, it will start to bend and warp over time. Hang it on a wall or in a closet by its hanger, or place it bristle up with the stick on the ground.

If your broom starts to get dirty from all the sweeping, it’s okay to gently wash the bristle with water and a little soap. Make sure to hang it to dry after — avoid getting your broom soaking wet, as the fiber can collect mildew.

With time, the color of the broomcorn may fade and the ends of the fiber may begin to fray. If you wish, you can give your broom a trim with scissors to freshen up the ends. With proper care and maintenance, you can expect your sweeper to last you 10+ years.

Brooms with dried flowers and other adornments are typically designed for magical and decorative use, but they may also be used for careful, gentle sweeping. Dried flowers are delicate and can break easily, be careful to keep your broom somewhere where it won’t get bumped into or dropped. All brooms come with a hanger, please keep your brooms hung up when not in use so the bristle doesn’t bend. Avoid direct sun exposure to limit color fading.

Please note that dried flowers are quite delicate and should be handled with care. I’d recommend hanging wreaths and witch bells on the inside of the door or on a wall to avoid exposure to the elements. Try to avoid direct sun exposure to limit color fading. If things like crystals or shells fall off of your witch bells or wreath, you can reattach them using hot glue or floral adhesive.

Smoke Wands

Sometimes I use fresh herbs in my smoke wands (such as cedar). While they can be burned fresh, I’d recommend letting them dry out before burning to get the cleanest burn. I tightly wrap the bottom of my wands so they won’t come apart before you burn down to the bottom. Please be sure to catch falling embers as you burn your wand to avoid fire risk.
