It is common practice in paganism and witchcraft to hang a broom above, beside, or on the door. The idea behind it is to create a barrier/filter to keep out negative energy, unwanted guests, and evil spirits while welcoming in positive energy and joyful gatherings into the home. The broom symbolized the act of sweeping out the bad and sweeping in the good.
This door broom is made with brown and green dyed broomcorn tied onto a driftwood handle. It is stitched flat with crimson twine. It is adorned with dried strawflower, moss, and preserved ferns. There is a braided loop of twine at the top for hanging.
This special besom was inspired by the haunted rosebush from Practical Magic.
